The Progress Software Business

Perhaps best known for application infrastructure software, Progress has earned its name for Progress 4GL, which arose in the 1980s as a Fourth Generation programming language. Technology evolution has seen Moore's Law shattered, with 4GL churning into OpenEdge Advanced Business Language, or OpenEdge ABL. Unique to this application development language is the English syntax used to abridge software development. Progress 4GL, now called OpenEdge ABL, is a class of SpeedScript.
